Gradual Worldwide Adoption of Crediting on FB

140331-KatHaraldCredits.jpg

I'm happy to see the gradual worldwide adoption by serious photographers of this kind of crediting on FB. I may have started it on FB, but readily admit to adopting the format from CA (Communication Arts Magazine), one of the most prestigious journals for creative directors, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and other creatives. This is a recent entry by the talented team of Kat Felton (model/uw model/mermaid-Germany/Thailand) and Harald Slauschek (uw photographer-Austria). Kudos in all respects.

"Simon" in Cuba

140215-2691B.jpg

Took this little guy, "Simon," with me to Cuba and took his photo on the park sign at our dive dock on the western tip of the island. I'm meeting with the puppeteers who created Simon to see if I can help them with their program aimed at stopping child abuse.

Sandbar at Saddle Cay, Exuma Cays, Bahamas Islands

120808-7128A.jpg

Some of the locations encountered during our Mermaid Portfolio Workshops are so over-the-top they stick permanently in the mind's eye. This is the sandbar at Saddle Cay in the Bahamas' Exuma Cays. It's one of those places we'll re-visit in August with sketches of new images we want.

Revisit's Are Fun; "Dive in Color"

TUSAAdTrioComposite1920x1080.jpg

Revisit....
Sometimes it's fun to revisit things - i.e. this studio work in Virginia Beach. These images ran in "Dive in Color" themed full-page ads in most of the dive magazines and posters still hang in many dive shops and diver's homes. The California -based creative director for the project wanted a Uma Thurman lookalike and we cast Elizabeth (Liz) Harlow, a model who works in Miami and L.A.. Client was TUSA USA/Australia, a division of TABATA, directed by Stephen Ashmore. After the U.S. and Australia, the ads ran in Asia and Europe - even in Russia.

Great Hammerhead Shark off South Bimini

140124-0156B.jpg

Just returned from a shoot specifically to photograph Great Hammerhead Sharks. We anchored in 35-40' of water just offshore from South Bimini in the Bahamas Islands and worked with these animals for a week. The great hammerhead is typically larger than the more common scalloped hammerhead and has a dorsal fin approaching that of a killer whale/orca.

Ocean Artists Society recently created a film and other materials aimed at people who could ease the strain being placed on our oceans. The image Kristi Sherk and I produced during a Mermaid Portfolio Workshop was used in this form.
