As 2014 draws to a close, I look back on some memorable people, pics and places from the past. Here's one, a giant tortoise on the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles Islands, about 1,000 miles into the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa, not far from Madagascar.
Doing some stills and aerial motion at Chesapeake Bay Foundation Brock Environmental Center near the Lesner Bridge in Virginia Beach. Video soon. This place is worth visiting when it opens to the public soon. It's "off the grid" with wind generator and solar power.
Today, Profoto released updated firmware for the B1 portable strobes and their remote controllers (Nikon AND Canon) to allow High Speed Sync. It's very nice when little things can make you so happy you're bordering on giddy.
Virginia Beach, VA 16th Street Amusement Park Aerial. Went out to scout some locations for an upcoming shoot, had the drone with me, took off and went up to 100' near sunset to capture the ferris wheel. Kind of a deary day; chilly but not bone-chilling and minimal wind. Good flying weather. Wondering when the DJI Inspire 1 will get here. Soon?

With 259,000 images on file, it takes a fair amount of storage media. This should keep me for a while: twin ARC 8050 T2 RAID Storage devices, each with 8-Bays with multiple-TB drives. Daisy-chained via Apple Thunderbolt 2. And, as a bonus, very quiet.

I'm always looking for new settings and thinking about ways to combine a location with images I like to create. One genre is the reflection pool - putting a variety of things in it like this Ferrari. Today, I saw this Gothamist link for a show opening this week in New York and almost went into overload.
