Hard to believe it has been 16 years. Underwater model, Sherry A Reichert (Sherry Smith) and I were doing a magazine shoot on some island and had a conversation about doing something a little different than just underwater. We came up with the idea of shooting a mermaid series. A college fashion professor sketched some costume designs, we picked one, and the designer fabricated Tail#1. Working/editing on a new Apple/LG 27" 5k Display today and missing being underwater like this manta scene from the Socorro Islands off Mexico's Baja Peninsula.

I was happy for my buddy Marty Snyderman to be silhouetted against blue water rather than between the manta and me (as he sometimes is). -- with Marty Snyderman.

Sadly, some things you can never do again. This is an example; a pump deep in the bowels of the sunken ship Fujikawa Maru in the Pacific (Truk Lagoon, Island of Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia). Affectionately called "R2D2" because it reminds us of the droid in Star Wars. The wreck is collapsing and it's not safe in this area of the shipwreck now.
