October 29, 2011 and Halloween activities in the Big Apple are getting slimed. There's a messy wet snow falling and it's cold. Here's the view from a cozy 25th floor suite of The New Yorker hotel, a 40-floor property built with 2,500 rooms in 1929. Today, after a $70 million renovation in 2008, the hotel has 912 rooms after knocking out walls to make rooms larger.
It's walking distance to Javits Convention Center (three long blocks) and less than a block away from B&H, the photo superstore of the world.
Diver model Julie Andersen cruises past The Jake Seaplane wreck in Palau, Micronesia. Julie, from Cape Town South Africa, was part of the crew shooting SCUBAPRO warm water gear some months back. Palau is one of those places where you can dive for years and never tire of it.
Julie, in addition to being one of the finest underwater diver models I know, is co-founder of Shark Angels, a conservation group uber-active worldwide working to stop/ban shark finning.
I've been remiss in updating portfolios, so I'll allocate some time to them over the waining weeks of 2011. This is Dr. Sam Garrett's relatively new building in Virginia Beach. The building houses Dr. Garrett and two other ophthalmologists complete with a licensed eye surgery center at the far right end.
SCUBAPRO's Australian shoot manager, Steve Blume, arranged for these three nautilus to come up from deep water for our warm-water gear photo session in Palau, Micronesia. Julie Andersen, co-founder of Shark Angels was our primary female model and came to the shoot from her home in Cape Town, South Africa.
Note: No nautilus were harmed during this session and they were returned to their resident depth.
After two years of aligning the stars, we made this picture and other variations yesterday and day before.
